European Innovation Ecosystems (EIE) form part of Pillar 3 of the Horizon Europe – Innovative Europe program. Their primary goal is to enhance the functionality of the innovation environment across the EU. They foster collaboration and know-how exchange between researchers and innovative entrepreneurs in all member states.

The EIE work program is divided into two main Destinations:

• CONNECT – aims to improve support for innovative businesses by fostering collaboration among innovators and building an interconnected, inclusive innovation ecosystem in Europe.
• INNOVSMES – addresses funding for the Innovative SMEs European Partnership (Eurostars 3) and supports initiatives within the EUREKA network.

European Innovation Ecosystems also support the operations of the EIC Forum, an association bringing together key stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
