The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) facilitates cooperation between commercial enterprises, higher education institutions, and research organizations. It promotes the integration of the so-called "knowledge triangle" – bridging the business, research, and education sectors.

As an independent EU body headquartered in Budapest, the EIT began its operations in 2008. Its mission is to enhance Europe's innovation capacity, contributing to sustainable economic growth and long-term competitiveness across member states.

EIT Achievements

Since 2010, the EIT has helped bring more than 900 new products and services to market, trained thousands of entrepreneurs, and supported over 2,000 ventures that have collectively raised €1.5 billion in external investment.

The EIT Network

The institute operates through Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), which bring together partners across education, business, and research. Currently, nine active KICs focus on addressing major global challenges:

• EIT Digital – digital transformation
• EIT Health – healthcare and active ageing
• EIT Raw Materials – sustainable management of raw materials
