The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is an EU funding tool for the 2021–2027 programming period, designed to drive digital transformation. With a total budget of €8.1 billion, it supports small and medium-sized enterprises, the general public, and public administration bodies in adopting digital solutions more effectively.
Key Areas of Support
DIGITAL funds projects aimed at enhancing Europe's autonomy in digital solutions, strengthening cybersecurity, and building robust infrastructure. Grants for digitisation target the following key areas:
- Supercomputing,
- Artificial intelligence (AI),
- Cybersecurity,
- Advanced digital skills,
- Deployment and best use of digital technologies,
- Semiconductors.
Among other initiatives, the program supports the setup of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) and Testing and Experimentation Facilities for AI (AI TEFs). In the Czech Republic, the managing body for this programme is the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO).
